Chapter 8: Devious

I woke up in a state of hangover; and much like every other morning it took me a minute to figure out where I was. I had fallen asleep in my clothes with an unlit cigarette and a lighter lying on my chest. The television was still on. It was stuck on the DVD root menu for Training Day but for some reason it was muted. The Hennessy bottle was empty turned over on the floor, I wasn’t even sure if I had drank the whole thing or if I had spilled it. It didn’t really matter either way, I had a fucking headache and I felt like the room was spinning. I got up and stumbled to the bathroom, almost knocking over the side table that held my shot glass, cigarettes, and ashtray. I undid my belt, dropped my pants and stepped out of them leaving them in a heap on the floor. I turned on the shower and removed my shirt while I waited for the water to warm up. Even though I felt like shit I needed to take a shower before I continued to rest up. My plan had been to go get the items I would need to carry out my plan; however I needed a clear head while dealing with that shit. I needed this day to rest up and get my mind back on track.

After I got out of the shower I threw on some boxers and jumped into my bed. Thank God for the blackout curtains I had purchased; when I closed the door and turned off the light it was pitch black dark and I ended up sleeping for the rest of the day. I slept like a dead man but my dreams were very much alive. In my dream I was in a pitch black room but I couldn’t see my surroundings, I couldn’t even see my hands in front of me. I wasn’t sure if I could even take a step for fear that I would fall and bust my ass in the process. The only sound in the room was the sound of a gun being cocked, like someone was selecting the bullet into the chamber. The sound was right beside my ear. I jumped up out of my sleep and my skin was tingling. All the hairs were raised on the back of my neck as I lay there in the dark; the dream felt so real I felt paralyzed in fear to even move. Lately my mind had been fucking with me so much I knew that something was seriously wrong with me. Strange dreams and instincts to do crazy shit. I didn’t give a fuck though, crazy or not I was going through with my plan and nothing or nobody was going to stop me. My headache still wasn’t gone so I went to back to sleep for a few more hours.

When I woke up I was feeling a lot better. It was 9:30pm so I got dressed and headed to Wal-mart.
